1. The official language is english
Belize is the only English language-speaking country in Central America. While English is the official language of Belize, Kriol is a dialect that is spoken by everyone.
2. First Belizeans
The first people to develop Belize were the Maya around 1500 B.C.E. The Mayas established a number of settlements in Belize which includes the popular Caracol, Lamanai and Lubaantun.
3. Easy exchange rate
The Belize dollar is pegged to the U.S. Dollar at $2 Belize = $1 USD.
So, it’s very easy to see how much something costs in USD when you go shopping.
4. Population
Belize has the lowest population density in Central America with 35 people per square mile or 14 people per square kilometer.
5. Weather
Belize is subtropical, with an average temperature of 84° F (29°C). Even in winter (November-March) the temperature in Belize rarely falls below 60°F (16°C), while the summer (May-September) is around 86°F (30°C). Humidity is also fairly consistent at around 85 percent.

6. Belize Independence
Belize obtained its independence from Britain on September 21, 1981.
George Cadle Price was the first prime minister of Belize and he served from 12 September 1981 to 17 December 1984.
7. Jaguar Reserve
Belize has the only Jaguar reserve in the world which is known as Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary.
8. Mayan Sites
Belize has around 900 Mayan sites. Belize is known as the epicenter of the ancient Maya world. Sacred temples, pyramids, advanced science, agriculture, mathematics, palaces, and awesome structures are their legacy.
9. The Great Blue Hole
The Great Blue Hole is the world’s largest sea sinkhole and a heaven for deep sea divers. It’s an enormous 407 feet deep and 984 feet across a depression in the center of the sea. It is also part of the larger Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System.
You can either dive the Blue Hole, or take the scenic flight over the Blue Hole.
10. The Belize cayes
The islands in Belize are called Cayes (pronounced “keys”) and total around 450 including those on the outer atolls.
